Any DC / VA divers out there feel like a trip to Lake Rawlings this weekend? I'm probably going alone -- driving down Saturday AM and camping -- just to muck about and try out a new mask and fins. Of course it would be much nicer to actually get a buddy and dive.

Unfortunately that post is a week old. I'm spending the holiday weekend with the fam. But send up a flair if you're going some other time.

I am about to start standing around with a sign that reads will dive for transport and air.... God my car is killin me right now....

Trade wife killing me for car LOL she won't let me dive so I decided to take big Plunge going anyway LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, Celtic, if you can handle my battered Civic and my leftist ways, I'll be glad to drive sometime.

I what I really want to do is head down there and do some drills -- kill 2-3 tanks, not be too ambitious about depth and just work on skills. Looking at the 10th-11th now.

Aside from wanting to camp, is there any reason you prefer Rawling over Millbrook? I find Millbrook to be much more convienent for the skills practice you're talking about.

I have never been, but I was under the impression that Rawlings was a little nicer conditions-wise, that the water was a little cleaner, clearer, etc. Plus it seems to have some amenities that Millbrook lacks.

Me, I don't have a family or many obligations that make me have to stay at home on weekends, so I'd make the trip for a nicer experience.

But you are right. For just doing drills I'm fine with Millbrook too, after all, it is closer to DC.

Basically I would never say no to either. And yes, North Carolinians are certainly invited.

One thing I don't know and maybe a more experienced person can help: Is there any sort of etiquette for these places in terms of having to keep moving, like on a golf course? Is it okay to just spend 30 minutes parked around a training platform if you're not actually in a class, or will people get upset?
