I don't write down anything, though. That would be silly. I made some tables with Excel and deco planner for a whole host of dives (everything from 80-210ft, with times from as low as 40mins to as much as 140mins at depth).

Thats still a lot of numbers, but yes, does help as long as you dont need to go deeper than 210 feet :)

that's a good time to bust out ratio deco ;)
i believe aj had to do this recently actually

Always best to make use of the procedure that you only get to use when diving deeper than usual or in an emergency.

:)

I see enough drawbacks to using it regularly that I'd rather save it for when I really need it (which isn't often).

heh heh, is that like "This gun is so unreliable, I only shoot it when I *really* want to blow my own head off?" :)

I do get where you are coming from, especially with the longer cave profiles being harder to track.

I would definitely need time to get comfortable with those profiles if I started doing those kind of profiles.

Ya, I think we just do different stuff. Its all good and since we aren't getting bent, we must be doin' somethin right!

Lol, don't ever ask me to do 300+mins at 30ft :D
VR3 - 11 hour Deco

From a thread on another board (text bolding by me):
Andrew Georgitsis:
The Pit Project - Unified Team Diving The max depth was 350’/110m (avg 300’/90m) and the bottom time was 2.5 hours at that depth...
...On this particular dive a CCR Bulhman model would of called for over 1200 minutes of Decompression, a feat I would not have wanted to face, however having done “Max deco” in the past on Open Circuit, and then on PSCR , I felt l could simply apply the same consistent approach and principle to this CCR dive and perform the Ratio deco or Max deco profile of 400 or so minutes.

I've read the Shape of the Curve and understand why it doesn't have to mirror any specific algorithm. But how in the Poseidon's trident do you go from reducing a 1200 mins deco obligation to a mere 400? What is this Max Deco thing? What is the rationale behind it? One of the first things AG acknowledges during his RD seminars is that there is no scientific methodology or proof for RD. That it is merely an arithmetic "fit". So then how do you explain this dramatic departure from something that you're "fitting" your deco profile to? It's gotta be more substantial than just AG's feeling, no? Does it have to do with saturation diving?
