did it on the temukira in january. so no info on the boat. sites were quite good, some outstanding. for me the biggest advantage was the "not crouded area"
3mm will do.
would assume you start in sorong. it is very remote and air service not very reliable. plan on one day of savety span before your int. flight.

travelling all the way, spend a few days at lembeh too.

Thanks, swisstrav.

Will be doing that. Ten days on the Kararu Voyager, another week at Lembeh Resort. Have heard the water was colder at Lembeh. True?
Have also heard that trips out of Sorong can be dicey. Trip is being arranged by a dive specialist with a great deal of experience in Indonesia, so I'm counting on her taking that into consideration.

water colder at lembeh?
not when i was there end of december/january. basically same temp. 28/29°c. that means upper 70/lower 80ies ???. a 3mm will just be fine. i even dived in a shorty during the day. nothing beets a dry and sunn soaked suit for the night dive ;-))

if you do lembeh afterwards you have no prob at all. for the worst you just loose a day of diving at lembeh. it got hairy with some of our group. flight canncelled. but tour operator did a terrific job. via jakarta to bali and singapore.

if you are not scarred about ugly looking critters - you will love lembeh. guess you picked a nice resort. will stay there during my next trip too.

I was thinking of this boat for Komodo next year and would be interested in any feedback especially in terms of any limits on dive times as well as general operation of the boat.

Water temperatures in Raja Ampat. I have been there four times and generally used a 3mm. Nowadays I am a softie and always use a hooded vest.

Hi DLTM, which outfit did you dive with those 4 times? See any big stuff? Thanks, -Andy

Andy, I was on the Pelagian before it was taken over by Wakatobi. One of the things I am looking for in a boat is one that does not limit dive times. I am told Pindito limits dives to 60 minutes. I find that too constraining for a boat that only does three day dives a day. I am trying to find out what is done on boats like the Voyager and Seven Seas. DLTM

Thanks for the info DLTM, 60 minutes is short indeed, especially if you're critter crawling along in the shallows, which is of course 1 of the major attractions of the REs. Myself, I like to do 3 x 100 minute dives a day on the CCR when doing recreational type diving, but many boats will not tolerate this. I feel your pain.

Did you see any bigger stuff on those 60 minute dives in the REs? -Andy

Andy - some good fish action at sites in the Misool Area. A few Woebegong and Nurse Sharks - all at rest under ledges - a couple of turtles.. Not much else in terms of sharks, mantas, etc.
