Hi everybody!
We will in Mexico the next summer; we would like to know where are the best places to diving in Quintana Roo, from Xcalac to Isla Hollbox ... we will be there for 2 weeks.
Some diving center raccomanded?
Thanks for the reply!! :D

If you are cave certified, the Zacation cave system is awsome! Check to see if Villa Delarosa is still in business, they are a dive op that caters to cavers.

Xcalac to Holbox is the entire Mexican Caribbean. You've got great ocean diving and awesome cavern diving. Where do you plan on staying? that will narrow it down. If you get as far south as Xcalac you must go to Chinchorro. Off of Cozumel and Playa del Carmen, some great walls and drift dives. Cenotes between Tulum and Pto Morelos are an excellent option.

Well - it all depends on what you want to do when you are not diving. The diving is great anyplace along the QRoo coast. Just remember the area covers about 6 hours drive time from northwest of Cancun to Xcalak in the south.

Cancun - with nightlife
Pto Morelos - nice small
Playa del Carmen - trendy
Cozumel - park in PDC and take ferry
Akumal - quiet and cenotes
Tulum
Sain Ka'
Mahahual
Chinchorro Banks - access from Mahahual or Xcalak
Xcalak

and the many large resorts along the drive.

You will never cover it all in just 2 weeks - Lot of reefs.

Basically name your price and what your idea is of a 'dive vacation".

Enjoy

Thanks all for the answers!
We will be there for 2 weeks and we will rent a car to visit the Central Mexico, from Tuxtla Gutierrez from Cancun; maybe we will pass in Chetumal, and we would like to know it is a good idea to go at Xcalac for diving (Chinchorro reef) or we can find beautiful sites also near Akumal and Cancun..
Of course we will try some chenotes, we think about Dos Oyos, Gran Cenote and Angelina cenote (others?!)

What about Isla Hollbox and Isla Mujeres? are good places to dive in August?
Thanks again (and sorry for my english...)!! :)

Isla Holbox isn´t really good for diving (Isla Mujeres is better), but at this time of year, you still have a good chance of swimming with whale sharks, a must do, if you can. Xcalac is a probably the best destination for reef diving and you should try to get out to Banco Chincirro, whilst there. You can get similar diving from Mahahual, which is a little nearer to get to from Highway 307: the road that takes you from Chetumal to Cancun.

Cenotes are a must dive and the three you mentioned are the usual sites we take people to, there are other sites which are just as amazing and have less diver traffic, it depends on your experience level? I am a Cenote guide living and working in the Tulum area, if you would like to discuss organising a possible tour, please feel free to pm me.

Hi Guigsy, thank for the answer; the next month we will take the second level PADI(Advanced), this year was our first year for dives; we have only 10 dives with OWD...
Any suggestion or information about dives is appreciated... of course you can leave some contacts for next summer
