Quick ? for Oly 4040 Owners

OK...I caved...I had to get one. Now I have a quick question that I can't seem to get from the manual.

The meter in the lower left hand corner of the LCD...I am not getting what this does. Most of the time, it just appears black, and then when I take a picture...it briefly shows a green bar (approx. 10-15% of the total) and then black again. Thoughts?

Also...I seem to have one bad pixel on the LCD display. Any thoughts on this? Is this something worth worrying about, or do others have bid pixels as well?

Perhaps it is writing out the picture from RAM to the card??

It has something to do with how much is used/left on the card...I should have been clearer in my original post...I understand that much. I just don't understand the logic of what I am seeing. A quick blip, and then 'boom' everything goes back to black.

It's an exposure differential graph. Whether in A or S mode, it tells you how far off from accepted setting you are...I think!

Did you get the Camedia CD with your camera? On it is the camera manual. If you'll look on page 61 it begins explaining how it works.

As for the bad pixel, it's not normal or common...I'd return it.

EDIT BY Dee It depends on what mode you're in as to what this bar shows. When you're using the movie function, it shows how much memory is left. If it matters....I never bother with this bar thing, I have too many other things to look at! On the top of the camera, it tells you how many pics you have left on that card. I go by that. As for the differential graph, I think that only shows in Manual mode.

Did you get the housing for it also? From what I hear it's [camera and housing] definately a sweet setup...
