Hi Everyone! I'm heading to Aruba in May and am going with Dive Aruba. A few non-diving questions? I'm planning on taking one day just to explore the island. Wondering if four wheel drive is really needed for anywhere besides Natural Pool? Anyone have a suggestion for a taxi driver to get from the airport to the resort and back at the end? Besides the typical tourist attractions that you see on the sites, anything a must see that's not well known? Thanks much!

Even with 4 wheel take care going to Natural pool.. I like your thought of taking a day to tour. you can drive around the entire Island pretty much all along the shore. Stop and get out at any of the pretty spots. Make certain to go to dinner at the country club Tierra del sol by california light house and watch the sunset (my wife usually ties it in as a spa day) with dinner at night. Also kinda cool to go to the "lighthouse" off baby beach stop at Jads for a cocktail. Enjoy!

I am heading to Aruba for my 30th trip so I know Aruba very well. You have to check out arubabobsnorkeling.com
That is the #1 snorkel tour on the Island.
Its pretty hard to find the natural pool. You might want to sign up for a jeep tour that takes you there. There are no signs in Aruba and people are always getting lost. Feel free to PM me on any other questions about Aruba. Most people ask for Bully, the great taxi cab driver.

I think a lil misunderstanding.... not really planning on going to Natural Pool unless by tour. I'm just wondering if I can get to pretty well everywhere else by driving a regular front drive car or should I go ahead and rent a 4X4 for a day for the park, etc?

A regular car will pretty much get you around the whole island. We rented a 4x4 a couple of times. Now we just rent a regular car each year when we go. We use Royal Car Rental. They have good clean cars and good rates.

If you go up to the lighthouse and continue on around the north side to the church, you will need a jeep because a car will bottom out and you will have to pay for the damages. I would rent a jeep from Top Drive for the day u want to explore. They run about $80 per day or maybe $90. Then you won't have to worry about where to go. Sometimes you get lost in Aruba so just keep driving and you will come out somewhere on a main road. If you want to do the best snorkeling on the Island with the baldefish water scooter, check out: arubabobsnorkeling.com You won't be dissapointed. Kent
