I just purchased a new regulator from a going out of business sale from a semi-local (meaning not to far away) dive shop. I currently dive a Zeagle Flathead XP, about to go doubles, so the new reg i've purchased is a Zeagle din Flathead VI. The reg was brand new and has never seen the water. I took it in the pool and it was great...easy breathing, no leaks....in 7 feet of water anyway. However there is one thing and basically i'm wondering if an environmentally sealed reg breathes different then a non-sealed, VI vs. XP. The new VI is the same when taking a slow breath, however when i take a deep fast breath it feels like something else opens up with a slight cracking sound. It does this dry or in the water....but as i said before no leaks or anything.....Is this normal with an environmentally sealed reg? My XP doesn't do anything like this....just wondering if i got a bad one.

it doesn't seem as bad now that i used it for a while.....i'll consider this a break in period.....until i find a "real" problem....

There should not be a noticable difference between the sealed and unsealed version. The difference is probably in how the regs are tuned. When you had your other reg serviced, a tech probably tuned it up to the best of his ability, possibly making it breath better than when it was new. The new one was tuned at the factory to factory specs.

I've also bought a brand new flathead VI yeseterday (I bought it on ebay for 350$).
How much did you pay?

(just trying to check if I made a good deal )

SIMPLE ...... if you have a question about any Zeagle equipment PM Scott Zeagle. Scott has been a scubaboard member for many years and has helped with questions or problems concerning Zeagle products.

The Zeagle FH VI is a very high quality reg that is tough as nails and very reliable. You should get great service from it, and be able to dive it with confidence.

echerk....if you got the first and second stage for that price, then you did well. You may want to verify if your purchase qualifies for the warranty.
