And it doesn't make us all bad, evil dive shops. :D
So you're saying some dive shops aren't evil? Interesting......very interesting.

he said if he only filled 4, it would waste the gas for the other two????
That's the strangest excuse I've yet heard. I didn't know Portion Pak had branched off into nitrox fills. :D

A 24 hour wait in your circumstance is unfortunately inconvenient for you, but is not
an unusual or unreasonable turnaround time. If the shop did it for you while you waited, you would probably complain that you got light fills. When filling nitrox, the tanks / mix gets hot and when they cool, you would lose a couple hundred psi. <snip>

Not to disagree in the least, but one way to handle the light fill issue is to target 3200 psi in a 3000 psi alu 80 knowing that it will cool to 3000 psi. The fill should be done slowly per oxygen handling guidelines and the amount of pressure drop due to cooling can be predicted with fair accuracy.

As tanks heat and cool the internal pressure will change by a couple of hundred psi. Even a perfect 3000 psi fill in an air conditioned dive shop will result in pressures in the 3200 range in the customers car while they finish their afternoon shopping (at least here in Nevada).

Some shops want to keep nitrox tanks overnight, and others are happy to fill while you wait. At the end of the day it's the shop owners decision. As a customer you can like it or dislike it but I agree with the previous comment that it doesn't make them evil. It may cost them business, but that's their choice.

If it was my shop and you were willing to analyze, sign the fill book, and then use your own analyzer to double check the next day then I'd don't see the problem.

So after all these posts and consensus that it is rubbish................

"Denise, whatcha gonna do?"

"Denise, whatcha gonna do?"

Well lets see:
I am going to start having my tanks filled after my dive at the LDS in the area where I am diving.
I will seek out only a reputable LDS who is not evil and will fill my tanks for me while I wait at a slow and steady pace with only the highest quality pure O2 to maintain the integrity of my O2 cleaned tanks. I will analyze the mix and sign off on it and
I will always round down to set my suunto computer per my manufacturers recommendations.:)
Since I cannot relocate at this time, I will seek dive buddies with free accomodations who live close to LDS (meeting above qualifications) to dive with.;)

Well, do I pay attention or what?:D

Denise, are you talking about Emerald? Cause, you did get nitrox fills there...
