Hi all,
I’m interested in a SMS75 and hoping someone can help me. I found an XXL size at a decent price and am curious what components are sized differently than a M/L. Is it just longer webbing? Can it be modified to fit a M/L body type?

THANKS!

I have a large/extra large. I’m curious about your question myself.

you'll have to remove the shoulder pads as they'll be too long and you'll probably want to cut some webbing down, but the back pad is the same size

Thanks tbone. Do you think the shoulder pads can be tailored any way to make them shorter?

If you're really good at sewing and have access to a big machine, then sure, they're all hand sewn at the factory anyway, but I would just as soon remove them. They don't do a whole lot. If you really want them in the right size, call Cave Adventurers, they can get the right size pads for you

Ok great. Do you think the SMS75 is a good rig to learn SM? I can get it almost half price.

My goals are mainly OW recreational diving for fun with friends. I dive with a couple buddies in BM doubles so I’d like to have doubles to keep up with them. I also really like the idea of having a redundant gas supply. I was going to just get a pony bottle but I don’t want to lug around the extra gear without the benefit of using the extra gas. I like the idea of SM because I dive HP100’s and think they would be too heavy for me to deal with BM without back pain. I already have the reg sets for SM.

I see you’re in Greenville. Do you teach a SM course? I’m an hour and a half from Greenville.

SMS75 is made for steels. I’ve just started SM with it and it’s working well for me.
