H2Andy:
if you only put your inflator hose (but not the corrugated inflator itself) through the d-ring, it's a lot easier to vent.
Yep... what Andy said. I have no trouble raising the hose to dump air to start my descent, but I actually end up primarily using the rear dump valve during the dive.

As for where to get the bungie... REI has it here on the west coast. Someone mentioned Walmart. Any major fabric store should have it as well. Most of these places sell it by the foot.

Here's a pic of how mine is set up:

Nice. Thanks for the picture. Is the rear dump valve on the top or bottom? My guess is that you can't release the air by pulling the corrigated hose, like I do now with my Oceanic?

The "pull dump" (OP valve) is located at the bottom near your hip. It "faces you"; if it was on the other side you'ld probably need arms like an ape to reach it. :D

There is no "pull dump" on the inflator hose.

I would suggest bungee/shock-cord (or the DSS provided) for retaining the inflator rather than threading the LP hose into the d-ring. Why? Because you will eventually have gear clipped to that d-ring and you don't want or need that hose in there as well. Additionally, there is no "give" to a metal d-ring.

DSS wings do not have a cable operated dump on the shoulder, they are equipped with an elbow.

You can dump with either the hose, or the OPV.

Bear in mind the harness that you ordered differs from some that have been shown in pics in this thread. Your harness is equipped with a vlecro restraint for the inflator. You can move this restraint up or down on the shoulder strap to fit your needs.
