People have gotten lazy and complaicent today. I have purchased some bigger items on LP and all I had to do was ask a question. OMG....the nerve of them. Well, I am online anyways and asking lots of questions so I confirmed the status of the warranty before I clicked purchase.

WHAT IS THE BIG DEAL PEOPLE????

The vast majority of members on this forum are aware of course.

10 years ago when I first heard of Leisurepro, I had no idea.

The thing is though, I bet that 90% of LP's customers are not members of this forum and don't know that they products they buy there might not have manufacturers warranty.

years ago, the first time I bought something from them (before I was on SB), I got the product and had a "story warranty card" in the box.

At the time, didn't really know that you could buy something new without manufacturer warranty. Guess that's what you get for assuming.

Luckily, never had a problem with the items purchased.

Due to my rather demanding work schedule, I'm unable to purchase from my LDS. I will on occasion when I have a free Saturday, go in, and purchase select items from them, but since I'm busy almost every weekend and can't make it during the week, I do quite a bit of online shopping. I've dealt with Liesure Pro, Scuba, Scubatoys, Diversdirect, Joediveramerica, and Dolphinscuba.

Even with my first purchase from LP, I was aware that the warranty wasn't handled directly by the manufacturer (thanks to ScubaBoard friends), which didn't really matter to me as long as the equipment was serviced properly. In fact, the only time I've had a problem with ANY vendor I've dealt with was when I purchased a mask from scuba.com, and they made me wait three weeks before they shipped it since it was backordered - without any notification.

I've purchased a lot of gear from LP between myself, my brother, and our other dive buddy, and have always been treated with respect from LP agents. Brett, Aaron, and Dave specifically have always been helpful, and happy to answer any questions I've had. However, there will always be a time when you catch someone on a bad day, or just before they're going to lunch, and you get caught with their frustration - this happens (it shouldn't, but it does).. I work in a call center, I know.

On the subject of Gray Markets - I love when I go into my LDS and mention purchasing something from LP - they immediately cut you off - "Well, you know that's a 'gray' market" - DUH!!! OF COURSE IT'S A GRAY MARKET, YOU'RE ORDERING A PRODUCT OFF THE INTERNET, FROM SOMEONE YOU DON'T KNOW... Any time you order anything from an online Reseller is a gray market.. If you're that concerned, don't buy from them,,, or go into their store. Granted some people still aren't very computer savvy, if you have enough knowledge to order something off the internet, you have enough knowledge to track them down if something goes south. I could go on all day with this, but I digress.....

The bottom line is that, IMHO and experiences, LP is a fair and reputable Reseller who can offer great products at very competitive prices, along with good customer service. They are just as good (if not better) than the other vendors I mentioned. That's just my three cents though.

I had a mind numbing experience with Leisurepro once. I usually buy local, but if I can't get something I will reach out on line (LP, Scuba Toys, Joel at TDL, DiveRite Express etc)

I have purchased a few things from LP. Hardware , Force Fins and a Luminox watch.

Ah, the watch and the mind numbing experience. I ordered a Blue Face with rubber wrist band. Right after ordering I came across a close out sale on ScubaToys for about $20 less. Well I know LP has their price match guarantee so I called them back. The rep said no problem. They will check the ST site. Well apparently the rep took that a step further and found out the only blue face Luminox Scuba Toys had was one with a nylon band. I told him I knew that but ST had offered to swap bands with another watch. "Sorry, no deal".

So I said cancel. "Too late". Already have incurred shipping and handling. And if I sent it back after delivery, my card will still be charged for it. Oh well. It is only $20.00 , but pretty chicken ****.

I am truly sorry that we weren't able to do anything on this occasion, however the price match guarantee is only ever for the exact same model, and as you are aware,
this wasn't.
I really do appreciate that it must have been frustrating to find that because we try to ship orders out immediately to avoid delays for our customers, your order had already been dispatched, and that you would have needed to pay return shipping if you wanted to return it.

First, let's discuss the DEFINITION of GREY MARKET.

A product is *GREY* when it is sold outside of the country where it was designated to be sold. For Example, Nikon produces Camera to be sold in the USA, and Camera's to be sold in France. What do you think the differences might be? Language, Manuals, Warranty, etc. and WHERE Nikon will honor a warranty.

When most folks on SB say Grey Market, they do not appear to understand what that means. There is no such thing as Zeagle Grey Market in the USA. If you purchase product XXXXX from LP, and the manufacture will NOT honor the warranty, that does not make it Gray, it makes LP a non-authorized dealer.

Why would LP choose to be a non-authorized dealer? For one, they may not agree with how a manufacture does business. Does that prevent them from getting products? In general, no. Often they purchase product directly from the manufacture even though they are not an authorized dealer.

All this aside, my experience with LP has been excellent, and when they don't offer a manufactures warranty, they instead offer their own warranty.

Some folks HATE LP, but I think we all own them a debt of thanks. I'm guessing we would not be able to purchase a BC for under $800 if it was not for LP, and others like them.

I did not vote because the poll is inaccurate. Many items from LP do NOT have a manufactures warranty, but a lot do. LP says they match all manufactures warranties, and my experience is... they do..

On of the more goofy items with LP is that they are infact listed as an approved dealer for many brands they sell and sell the stuff without a factory warranty.

If one is buying a new ABC reg, LP is an ABC dealer, why no ABC warranty?

Depending on the brand, the warranty is not worth all that much anyway. ABC might state "We warrant the product for life, seals and normal wear and tear stuff aren't covered and if you mistreat the reg is any way, well it's not covered.

Don't sound like much to the warranty anyway. If there is really a defect where the unit is recalled. The factory is going to take it cause they want it off the boat.

Can you site specific examples of items where LP does this theduckguru?

LP is listed as a authorized XS Scuba dealer on the XS site. XS says their regs are life time waranty. LP currently lists the XS SeaAir Trimetal reg new in a package and buy itself with a 24 month warranty,

Sorry, site says I need 5 post for URLs. Add www

Where it really get nuts, read the XS warranty, they say if bought from a authorized dealer it warranted.
