Hi Folks,

I was wondering how good (in terms of operational usefulness) wet-mate lenses are compared to their dry-mated counterparts... doesn't ocean gunk and whatnot get between the lense and the port when switching between them?

No problems with my Gates wetmate lense other than the macro has a small focal length.

Gates needs to add a "flip" diopter for macro work. It would work on the same principle as their "flip" filter. I know some Gates users put a diopter in the "flip" filter.

dang... that WOULD be sweet. a flip diopter... maybe you have an AFTERMARKET magic item on your hands!

People already have switched out the filter with diopters for dedicated macro work, so I can't take credit for this idea.

People have already suggested to housing mfrs. to design in another flip lever so we have both a flip filter and flip diopter.

I believe Light and Motion is the only mfr to actually put the idea into production. Their new housing for the Sony HD FX1 has the feature.
