I've been using light lycra skins, the kind that roll down to the size of a pair of socks, since the 70s. They are invaluable under a wetsuit, and great for diving or snorkeling in warm water. They are great protection from the sun, and from jellyfish and other stinging critters in the water column. They last forever with a little care. Buy a size larger than they suggest. The 1mm wetsuits are excellent, but they are not skins. I wear skins under them for most Caribbean dives unless it's chilly, in the 70s, in which case I wear a 3mm and a skin. There are quality grades among skins. Get one with a full zipper that goes below the waist, and an inner flap that keeps the zipper away from your skin.
