Use your own judgement but they are not an authorized dealer of many of the products they sell. This often means no manufacturers warranty. They offer their own warranties. Since they do not buy from the manufacturer you may find gaps in their supply availability when you need to call on said warranty. As for removing serial numbers, and they often do...The safety issue with that is, heaven forbid there is ever a safety related issue you will never know if your unit was affected by any recalls. Also many manufacturers offer free parts on regs when purchased and serviced regularly from an authorized dealer. This can add up over the years. Especially, if you own more than one reg set up. If you don't like a local dive shop, then try another. Like anything else there are good ones and bad ones. If there are none around or you prefer online purchases consider a Factory Authorized online site. Consider all that you get besides a place to get air fills when you do. If you do not feel you are getting your moneys worth at a local dive shop... Look around you might find that you do at another shop. I don't like the whole black balling schemes but many shops take it very personally when someone comes to them to try on equipment, get advice, and proceed to buy online. Or in other words use their services without compensating the dealer. All of that help is part of what you are paying for when you buy at a shop. If they are not providing you with what you need then by all means try another shop. I am just trying to provide a different perspective not be a big dive jerk. It is always good to hear new perspectives from end users as well. The industry is still evolving. Over time things will sort themselves and find a balance I am sure. In the mean time the internet is not going away. Divers and shop owners will have to find a balance to keep the sport thriving.
