Are these fins ok for scuba diving?

XS Goby:
The description says it's a snorkeling fin, will I be ok when scuba diving?

If you are going to be diving around your home (Red Bluff, CA according to your profile) I would have to say no. Your feet would get awfully cold.

According to Google maps Red Bluff, CA is north of San Francisco.

You would want open-heeled fins which are designed to be worn with a pair Scuba boots (booties).

These boots are usually 3mm thick and low cut for the Caribbean and usually 5mm or thicker and high cut for the northern Pacific ocean where you live or for the ocean of New England where I live.

The most important thing about SCUBA fins and booties is fit.
The prices can range from $80 to over $200 for fins depending on the brand and model you choose.

The full foot fins you are looking at were designed as snokeling fins and probably will not give you the power you are looking for in diving. I agree with ronbeau (great advice)

Ron is right on with his suggestion. I don't like them for warm water, either. I have a pair of full foot fins I bought for warm water diving - one of my dumber purchases, I think....

1-For boat diving, I never go barefoot on the deck - even on a recent liveaboard where I was the only one, I don't want to on a ladder, and I like to hang the fin straps around my wrists for the ladder in case I fall back in.

2-I don't want to go barefoot shore diving either.

Really? You were the ONLY one on the liveabaord? *That* must have been unique...

As for the fins, cold water diving is out (for reasons discussed above). I have a pair of full foot (for snorkeling around my boat), and never felt they were on as secure as my Bios (w/ a spring strap). No problem losing a fin on the surface... I'd feel a lot less secure with the greater possibility of losing one at depth.

im thinking he meant the only one not barefoot
Yep, the liveaboard crew - like Windjammer crews - all went barefoot and encouraged everyone else to. I just politely refused. I guess the only place I go barefoot is at home...

I agree with everyone. Those fins will not power you enough in scuba. I had the same question before I took my class, and a buddy of mine told me the difference.
