Hello
New to diving. I have a possible diagnosis of asthma. I am now in my 40s and have never had an "attack" but I do cough a lot if I get a bad cold. I have had spirometry done before and after exercise (on a cold day when I had a cold) and it was normal. Infact they said I had the lungs of a 20 year old - (oh to have to body of a 20 year old rather than just the lungs!) My GP has signed me off as fit to dive. We are going on the holiday of a lifetime in July to Australia. I am hoping to dive on Lady Elliot Island, but have heard that in Queensland you are never allowed to dive if there has been even a question of asthma. Does anyone knoe anymore about this? Many thanks.

What is a possible diagnosis of asthma? Doesn't sound to me like a diagnosis of asthma if they don't say that it is, and then give you clearance to dive.

If it was me, and I was already a certified diver I would avoid any conversation where the "A" word might come up.

I am not a doctor, nor do I play one on TV.

I have no knowledge of, nor would I discuss if I did have any knowledge of any such event, if it did in fact occur.
