Quarry temps in mid October?

the temps at the beginning of Oct are usually upper to mid 60s and at the beginning of november go down to mid to lower 50s. All of which can be dove with a 7mm, as long as its nice and warm (or semi warm) on the surface

Sorry for the late reply. I believe we are doing the dives at Portage and Gilboa. I've been asking around some other folks and they agree with the replies I've seen so far: 5-10 degrees cooler than summer, but a lot cooler when you get out. You would need something to keep warm during the surface intervals. We'll be wearing at least 7mil suits or possibly a 2 piece farmer john if I can get one.

You hit the nail on the head there! Most people don't really complain about the water temp in October/November, but the surface interval can be uncomfortable, especially for wetsuit divers. This is one advantage of a drysuit that wet suit divers can't really argue with. Do the standard wetsuit tricks to keep warmer, and if the quarry has a shelter to keep you out of the wind, use it.
