Very nice pictures. Supposed to go to Portage Quarry in June. Gives us an idea what to expect. Thanks for sharing.

I would say you take pix like a pro!!!!

Hey Andy - your photos of the quarries inspired me to finally register here at Scubaboard after lurking for several weeks.

As a newbie, and being spoiled by the FL Keys, I've been avoiding signing up for AOW dives that involve quarries, favoring trips to wrecks in Lake Erie or elsewhere for better "real" OW experience, thinking that the visability and excitement would be crap in quarries. I also was hoping to get a dive buddy (or even an instructor) to go out with me on my boat in Lake Erie to one of the artificial reefs off of Cleveland shores (the "Test" reefs and Stadium reefs) to build skills and explore (find treasures maybe, but likely a bunch of fishing lures).

But after seeing your pictures, (and seeing your site a few weeks back as well) I am excited to go to these quarries.

Thank you so much for shooting and posting, and giving me something to look forward to!

Do you mean the silo, or the tunnel at White Star? I'm not aware of a tunnel at Portage.

Sorry, I meant the tunnel at Whitestar. Got in a hurry and did'nt check what I wrote. The silo at Portage inside is a neat view too looking up from the bottom.
