Im interested in better protecting my hands when I am out killing Lionfish. I bought a set of PVC gloves from Lowes this evening, since most of the literature mentions they are recommended. I am curious if anyone has any direct experience using these gloves to handle Lionfish. We have discovered that Lionfish are delicious, but can be very tricky to handle (buddy has been stung twice) so I want to be able to work with them safely and confidently.

Skip the gloves... shoot them, then take your handy dandy EMS shears (you do carry them all the time, right?) and snip off the spines. Toss the spineless critter in your bag and continue with your dive.

hex armor gloves work the best as of now
google them

Randy Jordan with Emerald Charters in Jupiter taught me how to handle them.
I have killed hundreds of them and no hits so far.
I do not wear special gloves.
I shoot 'em, and grab them by the face.
If they are 5" or less I then crush their skulls with thumb and forefinger.
If they are larger, I use my shears to cut their lateral line behind their skull and that kills them instantly.

I then trim them, and drop them.
I sometimes bring the big guys up for dinner.
Thay taste excellent I assume you know Fdarden.
