Hey everyone,

Just wondering if anyone has had any recent experience with diving in Puri jati in Bali? Ive been hearing about lots of nets dragging the bottom, but I recall that there were barriers put in place to prevent this?

Thanks!

Not too recent, but since no one else has replied; I will. Dove 2 dives there three years ago and had read about nets being a prob.--- was not a problem --- no nets, or for that matter no other divers. Nice muck site with coconut Octopus who was living in a 3/4 coconut shell with a chip bag door, ghost pipe fish etc

Same here, not too recent, but I did 2 dives there last year. Sep 2012. At that time no sign of nets. It's pure muckdiving, almost more so then Lembeh. Sandy bottom with some seagrass and a few obstacles. I really enjoyed it. We saw some seahorses, coconut octopuss, giant frogfish, robust ghostpipe, dragonets, etc. And since the divesite is not really well known, you 'll probably be the only diver there.

Dove PJ's last week. Worth the effort, but critter count is generally down in Bali this season compared to past years. Water temp is 87 deg. The effects are obvious on soft coral and algae. Still some drag netting at PJ's. Other divers but not a lot. They come & go - maybe do only 1-2 dives.

Who'd you dive with for PJ? I haven't been back up there in years but would love to do so but expensive on one's own and most dive ops don't have the interest among their customer to go there...is Blue Season still operating a small dive op at the Zen Hotel do you know?

No info on Blue Season - sorry. I dive Bali with Aqua Marine Diving using a private guide. Their office is just west of Kuta.
Bali Diving, Daily SCUBA Dive Trips, Bali Indonesia with AquaMarine Diving Bali
AMD can pretty much set up diving Bali any way you like - private guide & transport, join group or whatever you need.
Just before you get to Zen on the road to the beach there is the fairly new Bali Nibbana Resort.

did PJ this april, it was poor comparing to 4 yrs ago. Even Secret bay is bad now

Critters don't like 87 deg water. A lot probably go deeper to chill out. Last seasons storms in the Tulamben didn't help either. During the first part of this month I dove PJ's, Tulamben, Seraya & Amed searching for critters. All areas were below par compared to last year & years past. Probably not the best time to dive the Philippines either.
