Cabo has the best Diving of the two.Winter vis Dec. to july 30 to 50 feet. summer vis. 70 to 150.Lots of fish, eels ,sea lions, large sea fans,We saw a school of yellow snappers in the thousands it looked like a wall until you got closer with giant gropers swiming with them it was a real sight.also sighted parrot fish in two foot range. I have lost count of the different species of tropical Fish in the Sea of Cortez some where around 300.Cruse ships stop comming in summer when thew Diving is best if you dont mind the air temps in the upper 90s and water temp.s in the mid. 80s.
My group Dives with Baja Dive located in the Tesoro Resort just across the Marina from the Cruise ship Docks.40 foot boat great Dive master and the Capt. with his whistle warns any boats to stay away from the Divers.tel 011-52-624-14-37659 Home

I just got back from a Carnival cruise that I won in a drawing. We were susposed to dive PV and Cabo. The diving at PV was washed out due to weather, high winds for 3 days before we got there. The dive shop called it before we left the ship and we were able to plan something else. Class act in my book. The water was a murky mess when we got there.

The dive boat at Cabo was a joke. They took us out to Pelican rock to dive. There were at least 30 boats within 200 yds of us. The water was so rough because of the boat traffic that it tossed you against the dive boat. Michelle got rocked pretty bad and bailed. She just sat on the boat. The second dive they just pulled up the anchor and went around the rock and said were here, lets dive. After the second dive, the captain pulled up anchor and took off with people still trying to get out of their gear. 1 of the other divers had a bad air valve on a rental bc and had to abort his second dive half way in.

This dive operation is a waste of air. It only a matter of time till someone gets killed.

Your overcrowding experience with Cabo may be due to the fact that you were diving when the cruise ships were in. We dove five days in Cabo last month and on four of the five days there was hardly any other dive boats out. In fact, I can only remember seeing other divers underwater once. On the last day two cruise ships pulled in port and the area exploded with snorkelers, taxi boats, and divers.

It's sucks that the dive op did that to you. Pelican Rock is a decent site (we had a sea lion come down to 60' and play with us for 10 minutes there) but Cabo definately has alot more to offer. From my understanding operators use Pelican Rock as a check-out dive because there is hardly any current and it is 15' deep at the beginning and end of the dive.

I think you are right, most of the time we don't see many other divers or dive boats but you can hear the boats cruising overhead sometimes.
