Diving at Marietas Islands yesterday and today.

With hurricanes "Norber" and "Odile" coming nearby, conditions where quite choppy over the last weekend and monday. In fact, we had to call off our dives on saturday because the swells were just too big.

Starting on tuesday the ocean was back to normal, although the viz at the sites near the shore was low because of all the rain washing down from the mountains.

Since Marietas Islands is farther from shore, we were able to dive with better viz. Yesterday viz varied from about 50ft on our first dive to 25-30 ft on our second dive. Temp at the surface 87F/29C dropping 3-4 degrees beyond 30 ft.

greetings from Puerto Vallarta

Alex - PVScuba

Seems like the water is starting to cool of a bit. After diving mostly at around 87F/29C most of the summer, water temperature is now starting to drop to 80-82F / 24-25C. It's not a big difference, yet you'll be more comfortable diving in a 3mm.

Viz is improving since the rains are over. We've seen the best viz at Marietas and El Morro .

hope to see you when you visit PV.

Nice and slow...Yes, it's a slow time of the year for business, yet diving conditions in November are among the best of the year. So if you're thinking of diving in Puerto Vallarta, now's the time.Temperature is still in the 80s, as is the viz.* Yesterday at Los Arcos we saw turtles, octopi, eagle rays, lobsters, and the usual hundreds of tropical fish species.

see you when you come to PV

Yup, that's the one I was on. Viz was low, 20ft-ish, but saw everything but the lobsters.
Alex, thanks again for taking the time, and teaching my wife Tina, how to dive. Let me know how your phys therapist like her dive!

PS, I stopped by to see if you were selling any shirts. I would love to pick up a XXXL from you if you have any you can ship. Drop me a note.

Yesterday we did our first dive at Caletilla and second dive at Los Arcos. Viz at Caletilla about 40 ft and at Los Arcos about 30-35. Temp is still in the 80s.
I had a 10-yer old doing his cert dives and his sister diving for the 1st time, so I didnŽ´t have much time to look around for the good stuff (haha).
Had a little bit of a jelly fish problem. Using a skin or a light wetsuit is always recommended, so bring your 3mm and come dive with us.

Friday Nov. 28th Los Arcos. Surface temperature 82F and 73F at the thermocline at about 50 ft. Viz near the surface 20-30 ft and 35-40ft below the thermocline.

Saturday Nov. 29th Chimo. The current was too strong so we couldn't dive at Chimo. Came back to Majahuitas for the dives.

Sunday Nov. 30th Majahuitas and Caletilla. Surface temperature 82F and 73F at the thermocline at about 50 ft. Viz near the surface 20-30 ft and 35-40ft below the thermocline.

Monday Dec. 1st Marietas. Surface temperature 82F and 78F down to 60 ft. No noticeable thermocline today. The sea was somewhat rough so the viz was at about 20-25 ft throughout the dives.
