Just back from a week at Puerto Vallarta; only dove for two days but thought I would relate the conditions and share a few photos. In a few words, it was chilly and a bit murky, both normal for this time of year. Temps at 50' and below ran about 61F, and where it was warmer vis could be 10' or less in spots. Once you got down into cooler water the vis opened up and there was plenty to see with large green and large and small spotted morays, numerous rays, electric rays and guitar fish, several species of nudibranch and gorgeous fields of feeding orange cup corals looking like groups of flowers - especially at Los Arcos. A 3mm shorty layered with a 3mm fullsuit was ok for me although the instructor from PVSCUBA wore a bit more plus his gloves and hood. Nice swim through filled with large puffers at the Mareiatas Islands, and some large schools of fish swam close in the murk for our safety stop at Los Arcos. A nice introduction to Pacific diving for me, and the cold water brought out the whales - we saw several over two days of diving.
