I've been reading the other threads on Riviera Maya diving and want to ask more about diving from Puerto Morelos. I'll be there in July with my non-diving wife, staying at Azul Sensatori. I've been to Cozumel twice and love it, but it may be a long day from P.M. Any dive ops in Puerto Morelos? How are the reefs there? And I'd love to see whale sharks too. thanks.

A couple of friends here LOVE the shipwreck in Puerto Morelos. Its 90ft and quite large. Full of life, they've seen eagle rays, turtles, barracudas, and more. Unfortunately the other dives at Morelos are predominantly really shallow and not as nice. If you can get the dive center to go out to Punta Maroma, there is a deeper dive and a shallower dive there and they are fantastic. We did an hour dive on the shallower one max 40ft and I went nuts with the camera.... sooooo much to see. Very healthy reef, loads of lobsters, morays, schools of fish. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the information, that was helpful. I dove the wreck off Cozumel and look forward to doing this one. By the way what dive operator did you use?
