We are going to be staying at Small La Laguna at Red sun resort and diving with SeaRider dive center. I have never been to the Philippines before so I not sure what to expect.

We will be leaving in 2 weeks and need to have an Idea of about how much money I should plan for each meal. Also is there any places the you recommend that I eat at. Also is there any Bars that would be good to sit back and have a cold one after some dives.

Any other recommendation of what to do or where to go would also be helpful.

Thanks
Ryan

Budget: as much or as little as you like really. Red Sun is probably the second or third most expensive accomodation there so I don't think your wallet will be challenged

Hemmingway's is IMO the best restaurant in Sabang, as good a steak as you'll get anywhere - apart from red meat they specialise in German food, but also have something for everyone (Italian, seafood, Filippino). Tamarind is also nice on the beach. Relax does great (and very cheap) Thai-style food. Capt'n Gregg's has a BBQ every night from 6pm. Diver's Cafe has decent pizza. There are lots of choices to suit any budget

The Point Bar does good cocktails (happy hour from 5:30-6:30, 2 for 1) and usually has a nice breeze & view of the sunset. There are 2 floating bars if that's your thing, if they haven't been towed away by then - it's coming into low season

Lots of massage places, my favourite is Essence; or the massage ladies on the beach will come to your room. A walk up to Sinandigan & the lighthouse gives you a nice view of Verde Island. There's a Hash Run every Saturday if you feel energetic (meet at Capt'n Gregg's, 3pm check the sign out front)

Out of Sabang, Luca's at Talipanan does authentic pizza & pasta. White Beach is nice if you want a proper beach & swim. El Ponderosa is good for a beer & a view over PG even if you don't play golf. Tamaraw Falls has a 'swimming pool' although the water has been a bit dirty lately so check before swimming

Back from the beach there's Broadway if you want to play pool have some beers. Over at Big La Laguna, LBC has a bar upstairs overlooking the little bay

Just go for a walk along the beach, you'll find something that suits you

I thought only Korean stay at Red Sun. Kimchi at its own restaurtant should be good.
The small beach at Big La Luguna is the best locally.

Good suggestions so far. Mark at searider is an excellent choice. He can really spot those little critters for you, think pigmy seahorse.
Mark can also give you suggestions on a few places to dine out. Right next door to Mark at Searider is a nice bar/restaurant on the beach called full moon. They have good drinks, friendly people, and a happy hour from 5-10, (San Miguel is P35). It is a very short walk from Mark's to the Red Sun. I would recommend a walk around/thru the point at Red Sun in small lalaguna to Big LaLaguna. A very nice beach for swimming. Try the small restaurant on the sand called Cataquis (yellow building). Good food breakfast mango pancakes, lunch I like the chicken with mango shake, and dinner. They also serve beer and drinks there at pretty good prices.
Don't forget to ask Mark about a dive trip to Verde Island, this is a must do.
Have fun.........Tell Mark the ponytailed Californian says hello.

Hemmingway's definitely should not be missed. Also I would also suggest the Restaurant at Atlantis Resort. They have a well-trained chef dishing out excellent cuisine as well as a very good bartender who's very good in concocting mixed cocktail drinks.

Right beside Mark's Searider is China Moon; that's our kitchen when we stay at Shache Inn also beside it. Been there twice between Christmas and New Year past two years. The Chef is good and meals can be from 200 to 400. Also a nice bar. You'll never go wrong with Mark; he makes sure you dive at least 60 minutes, even pick you up from the ferry in Sabang with his speed boat direct to either his shop or Red Sun. Small Laguna is quieter than Sabang village which is only 10 minutes away but there are more choices in Sabang; also if you go past Red Sun around the point to Big Laguna there's a small eating place al fresco in front of the beach but can't recall the name.

They keep changing the name; it used to be full Moon or something, now it's back to the original name China Moon but maybe they changed again.

SeaRider is great, just did 4 weeks with them. Very close by is Full Moon Restaurant, with the coldest beer, the best of food, and very nice staff. Hemingways supposed to be quite good, but too expensive for my tastes.

Thanks everyone for the advice. Would it be safe to plan that most meals are going to 400 pesos or less? i am just trying to plan out how much money I should have changed over when I get to manila. Also does anyone have a good recommendation of where I should change my money over at in Manila. I will be staying in a hotel that is close to the JAM bus station.

Thanks
