Public Service Announcement Add Helium Carbon fiber tanks

Has anyone but me noticed that Add Helium is just selling a product that the inventor/old owner of rEvo uses and demos at almost every dive show?

Because Paul sells/uses CE rated scuba tanks. AH was selling Chinese tanks that are NOT the same as the rEvo tanks.

If they are not DOT certified and "legal" in the US they are certain death traps by the logic on this board.

I don't get this discussion. There are many manufacturers of carbon tanks and such must comply to standards like OSHA, CE or TÜV etc.

an independent body has to certify and audit, depending on the standard tested.

Not new that Asian manufacturers counterfeit such marks, usually customs already check on importation.

Why are you assuming Paul was equally breaking the law? Do you have any good reasons for your assumptions or is this just trolling around?

Does the fact that you can ship Iphone fakes from Szenzen prove every Iphone Apple sells was a counterfeit?

I read 1910.424. The only part that I could find with regard to tanks was:

(4) A diver-carried reserve breathing gas supply shall be provided for each diver consisting of:

(i) A manual reserve (J valve); or
(ii) An independent reserve cylinder with a separate regulator or connected to the underwater breathing apparatus.​

(5) The valve of the reserve breathing gas supply shall be in the closed position prior to the dive.

What exactly was your point with regard to these cylinders being illegal?

Even better, what does a commercial dive operation standard have to do with private sector retail sales?

I’m not assuming anyone broke the law, I just used my posts to show the unfair bias in this discussion. I think Sotis should be treated fairly and defended here just like your defending Paul utill someone actually has PROOF to show that Sotis did something illegal. This is the second discussion of this subject on SB and both seem to be noting but a smear job by people that dislike Sotis. It is a shame the moderators continue to allow character assassinations on this board.

It seems some here have just got it in for Peter cause some non course diver 'f' up on a dive that he should not have been doing.

Get real folks and take some responsibilities for your OWN actions!

So many confusing threads. I've read them. I don't know any of the secret handshakes. So much conflicting information. So hard to draw conclusions.

I am sure of one thing. When the definitive history of rebreather diving is written, Mr. Sotis' entry will be lengthy. Any mention of imported carbon fiber cylinders will, if present at all, be in a footnote.
