I recently bought a steel tank from a garage sale and are hoping to gather more information about it.

It has the following markings on it:
DOT 3AA 3000
E1265
DIVQ
8 C (with a small L in the center of the C) 71+ PST

It has 3 hydrostatic test dates (7/77, 12/89, and 6/08) and had a visual last year in August.

The tank weighs ~45 lbs when fill to ~3000 PSI, has a circumference of ~ 22", and is ~26" tall (without valve).

My questions are:
  1. I would appreciate if someone could confirm the capacity? From reading previous post is seems likely to be ~87 cft @ 3000 PSI?
  2. Could anyone provide me with information on the DACOR valve that it has?
  3. It would be useful if someone could give me a rough idea of its current value?

FYI, I dived last weekend with it and just loved it.

Thank you.

The valve is a j valve. It'll work fine, I'm also sure someone would trade you a K valve for it if you don't want the j valve. It's a 7" tank, right? Seems to be about the size of a LP85 except higher service pressure and maybe weighs about 5 lbs more? Are there any more numbers on it?

Its a very early mid-pressure ~95cf tank. 3000+ = 3300psi fills so a bit larger volume than you calculated (roughly).
I would guess its worth about $100, nice tank but underappreciated due to its age. Should last nearly forever if you take good care of iit and avoid any water inside.

halocline & rjack321, thank you for your feedback.

The tank diameter is 7".

So it seems as if the capacity is ~85cf @ 3000 and ~95cf @ 3300?

Yes, I'd keep it as a single. You are not likely to find a mate to make doubles unfortunately. As a 3AA tank, I would fill it to 3500 and call it a 100cf tank, but I do my own fills.

How much did you pay for it? Cuz I say you scored!!! I just purchased four tanks on craigslist for A 100! two steel 80's one 19cf pony and a aluminum 100. all with 05 or newer hydros!!!

JEC11718, sounds like you got a great deal. Mine wasn't as good as yours but I cannot complain.
