Most peoples prespective of anything begins from when they started to do it or 1st discovered it.

Anything before that is irrelevent to them. A lot of knowledge is lost because of it.

That's so lame. Can you back that up? I'm old school deep air diving. When I started deep diving there were no tirmix classes or deco classes for that matter. I've made many a deep dive on air. I remember everyone of them. You and others show little or no class with your baseless snide comments. You all show nothing but your ignorance. IMHO

The fact that deep air advocates like you don’t want to acknowledge the effects of Narcosis is LAME!!!

The fact that you can remember entering the water, going to a specified depth and ascending without incident does not constitute a clear mind or remembering every aspect of that dive. The fact that you do think it is the case highlights you arrogance and lack of knowledge/experience.

Yes, I have completed deep air dives (150ft plus) and can tell you that this is the case. I also know that you are going to tell you that it does not affect you that way, which will acknowledge your narrow-mindedness and denial around Narcosis.

We (trimix divers) don't show ignorance like you state, but rather informed, experienced based references with the ability to see the bigger picture.

I'm not an advocate, but I'm not a detractor either, I'm a realist. Deep diving on air was done for years because that was all that was available. There were no PADI, NAUI,.....name it tables except the USN air tables, good to 190’. I haven't done any really deep diving in years, those days are mostly over. I did make several dives in NC last year to 100+ FSW on air, but I don’t consider that deep. You have a lot of "facts" about me for someone that doesn't know me. To me it sounds like a big pile of what makes the grass grow green, and you sure do spread it around!
As far as knowledge and experience you haven’t displayed any in this thread. Trimix I'm sure is great but it is not essential for deep diving. If it makes you feel superior to those that don’t use Trimix then enjoy yourself.
Perhaps some training at the local charm school would be a benefit to you?

* No one is suggesting that AIR is an ideal gas beyond 100 feet
* Helium/Trimix is not available at every dive site
* Individuals have different levels of training and experience
* People have different comfort levels in various diving environments
* Most people agree that training is recommended before using different gases, or diving deeper
* Formal training is available in Trimix and Deep-Air
* How deep ANYONE dives is up to them (regardless of the mixture they use)
* Some people will elect to dive beyond their level of training and experience; others will not
* What is good for you, hopefully is; it may not however be an accurate assessment for another diver
* This website is a forum for different opinions
* It's common courtesy to respect the opinions of others
* It's best not to criticize what you don't understand.

AfterDark, whats the extent of your trimix experience?
From my post #174 "Trimix I'm sure is great but it isnot essential for deep diving." This would indicate correctly that I have zero trimix experience. I never claimed any. I do claim many years, many dives, and manyhours diving deep on air before trimix was available to the general public and before tech diving had a name. The Navy, Cousteau and commercial divers werethe only divers using mixed gas when I was diving to the bottom at Castle Hill Newport,RI charted max depth 200fsw all though I never found that hole. One can’t dive with gas that’s not available. Back then I was doing what every other sportdiver diving deep was doing, the best I could. I never had the money to pursue trimix training and the required equipment. I don’t dive deep anymore been there donethat. Around here in RI unless it’s a wreckthere is nothing to see below 80fsw expect mud and broken shells.

Jordan, don't waste your time.
Some of these guys are perfect. You can't mess with perfect.

I can annoy it! :) From the Marineweather underground: Sun W winds around 5 kt. Waves 1 foot or less. Looks good for the U853 this Sunday!
Have you dived the Larchmont before?

I find the original post by the OP interesting. Is there a site or place I can go for more info? The facts about the course would be helpful.
