Plus 1. With reasonable care, decent quality light cords will last a long time. If 12-36 month replacement makes you feel better, knock yourself out, but there are better ways to spend your money.

That's about how long mine last (3yrs). Most of the ones I've replaced were done because I needed something else anyway (ballast, I have gone through a couple of those). And I had a lighthead flood once. And before DR put strain relief on their cables I had a couple of those replaced.

Cuts in the cord have not been a problem.

I have a DR 10 watt that is about 4.5 years old. I will just say it hasn't seen the inside of DR since leaving there. I have had to replace the battery. This light has over 500 dives on it.

It makes sense to replace the cord if you are sending it in for major work anyway. As long as the ballast fails or the light head floods before the cord wear out, cord failure will never be a problem. :D

I don't know what cable you have on your light or what kind of diving you will be doing with it. I have never covered up the cables and had no issues.

I agree. My old AUL light has never needed any attention and that cord is well over 10 years old

nah. i have a fl gators koozie for the light head, though...
