well the tittle says it all, i am looking for opinions on the dive-rite back plate with rec wing and harness, any info and more so opinions would be really great, as i got a great deal on one new and want to know what people think of it, i paid $430 for it and everything included out the door. thanks in advance

Jim...I see you went the DR route.

You are going to get a lot of opposing positions on your question. Did you go with the delux harness with quick releases or the continuous strapping style??

First of all, I too have the DR TransPlate and I use the delux harness and the Rec wing.
There are some that will hate the delux harness. They feel that the releases are points of failure. Now, that could be a consideration if they are hanging multiple deco bottles off their rig. But, if you do just recreational diving like me it isnt an issue at all. I have never seen a quick release fail. Some probably have, but it hasnt been my experience.
There are also some that will not like the Rec wing for a couple of reasons. One is that it has a bungee cord. They feel that is a point of entanglement. Again, I dont cave dive nor do I really do deep wreck penetration so it isnt an issue to me. I like the way it controls the bladder and keeps it from tacoing when I dive singles. You may have to adjust it a little at first but I think it works fine.
Then there are some that wont like it because they feel the Rec wing isnt an adequate doubles wing, and , no wing can do both doubles and singles.

After all that.....and some other issues that will be raised....you may feel like you have made a mistake. You havent. You bought a quality rig and it will last you a good amount of time and serve you well. If you go more techie you will probably change out the delux harness for a continuous strap. Thats ok.

Enjoy your rig. I really like mine and if others dont, that is their problem...not mine... or yours.

By the way, did you go with the small, medium or large weight pouches?? I am VERY neg bouyant and the small ones are more than adequate for me. Push the pouches way to the back ...as close to the plate as you can....and your trim may work out just fine.

Take care Jim and enjoy.!

arrg...double post problems

I also have a DR transplate & rec wing with the delux harness. I find it is easier to get in and out of than a hog harness. I don't use any weight pouches. I dive single 108 steels. You will really like your rig. when I go to doubles I may switch to a hog harness.

Great product! If it works for you, don't mind what others think! I dive DR ss backplate with recwing and use the smaller weight pouches...works great for me!

I dont like there wings , they just dont seem as perfected as other brands. The rest of there products ROCK , IMO

I have the exact setup with a continuous webbing though I started with the TransPlate. I enjoyed mine alot. Though I am diving mostly single, I am planning to go double AL80 in the upcoming future. Understood that it would be as neat.

D_R make lots of good gear. If it works for you and it feels right and your happy with it, I makes it alot esayer to dive.

I had a DR venture wing but with the conditions I dive in it was not the right wing for me so I up graded to a Halcyon wing. But the DR wing was very nice.
