Monovision. Distance Rx right eye, near left eye. Several companies make prescription lenses you can install yourself. - Atomic, SP, Tusa…

I had custom bifocal lenses but the near/far line made a clear view through my camera viewfinder difficult.
Have you tried the Distant-eight-eye and the near-left-eye? Does that work for you? Is your brain able to work the disconnection without a headache?

I must agree with you about the bifocal lenses in a scuba mask. The "super glue to your mask" readers did not work for me.

Maybe look into contact lenses that correct for both. I have them and they work well. The reading part was still not perfect so I bought lenses with readers glued in.

I use multi-focal contact lenses, they are like bi-focal glasses. I get the monthly ones and leave them in for the whole week of vacation.

Reading and distance contacts?

Feels weird for a few seconds topside. A non issue underwater. I use -1.5 and -2.5… my topside glasses are a bit stronger, but round here you can’t see that far underwater anyway😂

Another joy of getting older is that sight deteriorates further. I've used a prescription mask for short sightedness forever, but now have long sightedness as well. It was a struggle to read my computers the other day and the SPG was a blur. I can live with the SPG situation and I could buy a more modern computer with larger backlit numbers, but since I want to start underwater photography again, I need to get this sorted.

I've trawled the archives and Google and there doesn't seem to be a satisfactory solution. Progressive lens dive masks are hard to find and very expensive. Stick on "gauge readers" don't seem to last long. I can't be the only person in this situation. Thoughts?

I’m not sure if a progressive lens for scuba exists. I don’t think this would work well for diving anyway where we want to see our computer or camera at 18ish inches, and distance for the most part anyway.

I currently dive with see and sea with their prescription bifocal inserts. I like the mask fit, but I’ve found the external retainer bows and cracks where the bifocal is, causing an annoying perpetual leak. Do I have a strong script that created a big lens bulge? Not according to my optometrist.

Next up - I’ll be seriously looking at Tusa and their lens insert system when my current mask is kaput.

Has the OP contacted SeaVision? They put my progressive prescription in my mask.

My wife and I have been using SeaVision since 2006. Never had a problem. I use their mask and my wife uses another brand. I've bought new mask with lenses and had them change lenses in masks as my visions slides with age. Great service and staff.

We're lucky. They're located St. Petersburg, Florida; less than 30 miles from where we live.

That's interesting. Their website doesn't offer that option. I'd buy it immediately. I'll give them a call.

Some have found that progressive lenses do not work as well underwater. For me that do not work very well above the water either but my wife loves them (above the water. In any case, just because you have progressives above the water does not rule out bifocals below. Prescription Dive Mask did my full prescription. It is a bifocal and it works great underwater. I need to be able to see all of the info on my camera screen and I can easily with my prescription installed in my dive mask, an Atomic Frameless single lens.
