Problems? with Mares Mc1

Hey all,
I just got a Mares Mc1 from Ebay and 2things: There is something that is rattling (sounds like around the Psi gauge
2: When I put in the supplied batteries, the screen lit up-then all of the icons appeared-then disappeared.
Is the rattling normal?
and do I need to replace the batteries?

The seller had 100% positive feedback and the unit appears to be new

I can't speak to the rattling around thing as it pertains to a computer, per se - but every SPG I've ever own or seen has a slight rattle to it. Are you a regular diver?

Secondly, the M1 does that (lights up all icons) then goes into "Dive" mode when you turn it on.
