Mike Veitch:
Tungsten? That is a warm light (orange/red) as opposed to the cool lighting we get underwater (blue) so that probably won't work.
I think you would be best off with auto.

Yup, tungsten=typical indoor lighting, ie yellow/orangey incanescent bulbs. I didn't think that type of WB would be relevant to underwater video but just wanted to be thorough. Thanx for the info.

cheers

Mike Veitch:
Understandable question.
i rarely take my red filter off, just WB for each different depth and colour pops out beautifully.

If you WB without the red filter then you won't get the colour spectrum that the red filter brings into your shot, everything stays that monochromatic blue.

lesson learned, many many thanks! - PS: where is your site hosted? even the 1600x wallpaper was super fast. thanks for those too!

Right, so i have done the camera switch and used my friend's camera in my housing.
Well, wouldn't you know it but the white balance worked like a charm. He used mine in his housing and couldn't get the white balance at depth.
So, obviously the problem is not with the housing but the camera.
Sooooo, back to square one.
I have the camera set on all default as opposed to custom. But so does my friend.
Any ideas?

You will note that i have shut down the site due to unauthorized theft of images.
As a pro photographer i actually have to make a living selling photos, please read the copyright notice up on the site.
Don't worry it will be back up soon with a lot more security features...

By saying 1600x wallpapers, are you saying you copied each and every photo from the site? Or what do you mean by 1600x?

And yes, you are exactly to whom i refer to when i shut the site down...

Contact Sony and ask about cost of repair or find a good used of the same model. Does it actualy balance at any depth? Could be as simple as the switch not working.
