Bid.., you will have already equalized your pressure, only it's with air not water. If the mask floods, or an ear cup floods you will only have wet ear(s), no pressure differential.

Chip, your comments are true, but as you admitted you only used the mask once. I don't have an over pressure issue from beathing into the earcups constantly. I found if I over breathed through my nose the excess air would simply bubble out of the ear cups. It just creates a new underwater equipment sound to ignore, that's all.

I find the sounds of the bubbles from my reg, passing by the sides of my head, to be muffled and less intrusive.

Spratman, who cares how you look diving? We all surface with mask rings on our faces and buggers hanging out of our noses.

One last advantage with the Pro-Ear mask, fish can't nip at your ears. Freshwater sunfish can be really pesky in this regard. You'll be sea-lice and jellie proof too.

My dad actually got some of these last week and used them for the first time this weekend. He has ear trouble some as well. He had to have tubes put in a few years ago and always has trouble with them one way or the other.
The one good thing he said about them was that they did keep his ears dry. Bad thing is when you are up top you can't hear much of anything and it is very hard to put them around your neck. Also, he said he thought that it may have made it just a little easier to equalize but not enough to make a big difference. He of course DID have to equalize as normal.
In short from his prospective, if you want to keep them dry they do there job but are cumbersome and you can not hear well.
Later!

There are threads here on the Pro Ear 2000 going back to January 2001. Almost everyone has good things to say about the pro ear w/r/t it doing its job of keeping the ears dry.
Here's a link to a whole slew of "testimonials" from users.
We've only had a couple of students who've used the mask because they had medical conditions where they needed to keep their ears dry; the mask worked fine for them.
