If I were spending $10,000 for a unit and $2,000 for training, I wouldn't necessarily base my CCR buying decisions on which units my local instructor could teach. I would select the unit based on my needs (every CCR out there has trade-offs, so find the unit that suits your needs best) and then be willing to travel or be willing to bring an instructor to me.

Heck, depending on the unit, there are some great vacation destinations you could go to for your training (AP = Grand Cayman, JJ / SF2 = North Florida / Mexico, Optima = Keys / South Florida / North Florida, Defender = North Florida/Grand Cayman, Meg = Well anywhere really).

After my own research and feedback from other divers, my plan is to rent a unit to try first. Perhaps at DiveTech on my next trip to Cayman.

My main concern with Poseidon is the limited service options in the USA.

I wanted to rent first, but car-salesman Rusty Berry was trying hard to sell me a unit. I did locate a reputable NAUI Course Director in San Diego who has lots of experience with the Prism so will try him out. Thanks all!
