Albert Jackson, the original owner of Fantasy Island Beach Resort has passed from apparent natural causes on 29 January 2014.
It has been a long time since he was associated with FIBR, but many guests may have seen his substantial mansion on the hill just above the resort on the main island. He has a large family presence on the island and had been instrumental in the development of Roatan.
His namesake figured into the placed wreck by Bill Evans from Coco View. That wreck, accessible from both resorts, was placed in 1984. The story is told that since old ships are referred to as "cans", there was something vague in the lost translation and there was some reference to "Prince Albert in the Can". Thus, the Wreck of the Prince Albert.

Albert was good friends with many of the people that we know of by the dive sites that have been named after them- Newman, Calvin, Doc, Mary and many more. He is a reminder of the history of this island in the first years of its modern history. If you wanted to make something happen for Roatan, Albert was always one of the team.
