Primary Light Held with Right or Left Hand?

i've seen pics of DIR divers holding their primary light (wrist or
hand-mounted), but in a few of them have it in the right
hand and a few on the left.

anyone know what the DIR final word on this is?

also, what's the DIR routing of the light cable assuming
it is held with the left hand (the canister itself being mounted
on the right hip).

Nothing to add to what I already posted in the thread Snowbear referenced other than this tip:

I have a little Q40 ziptied to the bottom of the goodman handle for looking at critters. It is very injurious to their eyes to shine and HID at them. The Q40 also works well for reading gauges, especially went ascending at night with the HID clipped and turned off.

Do you ever run a reel?

If so what kind and have you found that the Q40 interferes with the handling of it?
