hey all-
kinda technical, so bear with me-
i was putting together my first set of regs the other day, and was using another set that came pre-assembled to "follow along" i noticed that contrary to what i thought should be done, the primary lp hose was in the port BEHIND the octo lp hose (both on the right side) so, i looked at another "backup" set of regs i have and saw that it was setup the same way (primary behind secondary) hmmmm.... this seems strange, i was thinking it should be the other way! is there any (real) reason regs are set up this way? or am i overanalyzing it?!?! (i've been known to do that!!!!) anyway, i set up mine with the primary in front, since it's a shorter hose...
let me know-
thanks!!!

So long as you're talking about setup on a single first stage (as opposed to doubles, where what goes where is more important), IMHO do whatever gives you the cleanest hose routing.

One way to know if you have it right - when you reach back over your right shoulder to grab the hose for a regulator recovery, which hose comes easiest to hand? It should be the primary.
