Hi all !

Just curious as I am in the process of swapping out some valves on aluminum cylinders. Are all valves on alum tanks rated for same pressure ie. can you swap a valve on a 6 cf pony to an 80 alum ?

Thanks beforehand for the imput

Pressure ratings of valves distill to regulatory and engineering. Regulations specify certain types of valves for tanks with SP above 3500 psi. For other cylinders, rated 3442 and below, the controlling factor is burst disk rating. Generally, the same rated discs are used across brand lines for 3000 psi tanks. As far as engineering, the stucture of almost all modern valves is safe to at least 5000 psi.

I think the most important thing to realize here is this:

Both cylinders in question, 6cf pony bottles and Al80s, have the same pressure ratings and thread sizing.

To me, that would render the question a moot point.
