Oh, and regarding the breath-hold swim . . . It was my biggest fear going into the class. I'd been practicing, and had only made the distance a couple of times. Mostly I made it about half to two-thirds of the way.

The night of the swim test, I took my three deep breaths and went for it -- with my eyes OPEN. That's all that saved me. When I thought I simply couldn't go any further, I could see how close the end was, and I literally gritted my teeth and decided I would rather drown than fail :)
