Hello everyone,

I am a new certified scuba diver and have just found out that I am pregnant. Can someone tell me why it is not recommeded for expecting mothers to dive?

Thanks, Mel

Hello Mel and welcome to the board. I recommend that you do a search on this subject. I'm sure you will find lots of info from previous threads. Good luck.

I found the information I needed on the site. Thanks for your help and I guess I will be waiting 9 months to dive!!!

Mel... so sorry to hear that. Good luck with the "Baby on Board" and hope time flies by for you.

That doesnt mean you can't snorkel! BTW, my wife dove a few times early in the first trimester before stopping.. it doesn't seem to have had any ill effects at all... but we're just one case..

Good deal......take care of that precious baby first! Plenty of time to dive after he/she (they?) are born.
You might want to do a search on DAN's website, too. They have a few articles about it.

I am very glad to see your possess good common sense. I asked a student to leave my class last summer because she became pregnant and while she argued but complied.

Congratulations on your pregnancy and your decision! I have a friend who had both of her children underwater (in a pool..on their sailboat) It was incredible. Good luck to you!
