Never having dove with a dump valve on the forearm what are the pros vs. cons of having one there instead or in addition to a shoulder dump?

Forearm for me

One advantage of a forearm dump is that you can vent air from your drysuit and wing in one motion. As you raise the inflator/deflator to dump air you are also venting expanding air from your suit at the same time. Those of you that wear your computer or depth gauge on your left wrist may want to move it over to your right wrist. A major disadavantage is for those of you that like sticking your hands in holes for bugs and such.

In all honesty, I think it is really a matter of personal preference. I quite like having the dump on my shoulder, but I don't see any any real advantage of having the valve on the forearm!

Obviously if the valve is on the shoulder the auto dump functions nicely during ascent.

One thing said, if you decide to use a shoulder dump, then I would definately recommend the larger Apeks valve over the low profile one!

Hope this helps

Paul
