It’s time to rebuild my generic K-style power inflators and noticed the Hog inflator while searching for parts. Does it perform or hold up any better? Are the guts stainless or chrome plated brass?

Not sure about the guts, but got the chance to hold one the other day (on the surface) was very different and seemed to me like the inflate button might be hard to press because the LP hose connection gets in the way of where you would put your palm.

Other than that, seems like good build quality.

I use the HOG for a few years now and I am really happy with that stuff. I can't really tell you pros and cons versus other one but what I can say is that it looks simple (and it is), no rubbish and stylish stuff, just the basic that works very well. To press the inflate buttom, just hold the corrugated hose and press, the LP hose seems inexsitant.

Good to hear, i figured with everything attached and in the water it would not be as noticeable. I dive HOG regs and love them, might just move to these when its time to rebuild.

It has been over a year since I installed HOG power inflators. I just took them apart to see how they were holding up and am impressed. One was used on two liveaboards where they didn’t get rinsed during the week. They are easy to service and buttons are smooth. Generic “K” inflators were a lot more corroded over the same period of time with more frequent fresh water rinses.

The inflator is a little heavier and is more negative in the water, which I like. One lady with small hands did say the HOG wasn’t as comfortable for her but I really didn’t notice much difference after getting used to it. Recommended.

I have three different styles...

standard (generic)
HOG
ScubaPro

I find no difference (trouble) in operating any of them. As I dive 99% in fresh water, I have little to no issues with any in terms of corrosion. Button placement between the generic and the HOG are practically identical. If you own it, "muscle memory" should solve any perceived troubles.

Also looking at Zeagle Bx (similar to HOG in configuration).....
