If I could just pipe in here, I will say that from my experience down south, you need to make your voice heard. An organized movement by divers with even tempers goes a long way. Some of the very few shore diving sites I dove in Virginia were almost lost by local divers, but whoever speaks the loudest seems to win - that was us divers!

Don't be fooled, y'all. We're just as much of an influence to those local politics as anyone is. We bring in money to local business everywhere, be it Dunkin' Donuts or an after-dive meal by the waterfront. Our voices and our dollars count.

I would love to be a part of any movement that strikes some kind of a satisfactory compromise between the Rockport folks and divers.

You might want to contact Angelo Correnti, the president of the Bay State Council of Divers. Working to ensure the continuing rights of divers in MA is exactly the kind of thing they do. Correntibe@aol.com
