ooooooh aaaaaaahhh!!! :D

love those sailfin blennies! especially the fighting males! a guy found one on the shore dive at SCC last year and told us about it (he was getting out as we were getting in). He said to take a small mirror down with us to show to the male to make him come out and attack for a picture. We didn't have one and couldn't find him anyhow.... tehehehehe but this year :blinking:

I spend many hours underwater to get the display picture above. If you settle on the sand and wait a while (ten minutes?), watching the bottom ten to twenty feet away, the sailfins will start to show. You then need to creep up on them slowly and wait for the display. I put my camera on manual focus with autofocus lock. Set the camera to fire multiple frames. When the little buggers pop out, push the shutter. Repeat as many times as necessary to get a good picture. There are a bunch of sailfins just southwest of the pyramid.

I've got nuttin'.
That is, nothing that I want to post! LOL

LOVE the blennies but I have ZERO patience! I have a couple of sailfin and a pike blenny but I don't really care for the shots I took. So, I'll sit this one out. I still think we need pic of the week. I don't have too many images! lol

I don't have a huge collection of photos, yet. I'm still a newbie. I have only been shooting in manual for about 2 years. I hope with my new Canon G10 I can practice a little more on my macro shots.

Love the two blennies fighting Jim. Robin I love the secretary blennie. They are my favorite!

BTW, RobinT, I am confused. You sign your name as Robin. but your watermark on your photos say Ron? Do you pop your image copyright on each one individually or can you do it all in one batch? I have Photoshop CS4 and Lightroom 2. (Still learning how to use Lightroom)

Jen - the watermark is because all those pictures are by my husband, Ron. I gave up still photo about 4 yrs ago when I switched to video. :D We will be heading to Coz in a little over a week so I hope to shoot some underwater and topside videos to share with everyone when we get back. :D

the copyright program we use can do batch or individual... it is called "copyright left". LOL Got it off the internet several years ago, don't remember if it was free or not. I put that on all the underwater photos now after I got a few of mine stolen and used by some dive shop! I had to get people to e-mail the dive shop and threaten them with a lawsuit in order to take my pictures down. So now we do the watermark - I don't mind people using our photos as long as the copyright is left intact.

BTW.... Ron's camera: Canon Xsi/450D Dslr, Canon housing and lenses, 2 Sea & Sea strobes, a new focus light...

Jim and Robin, your photos are really nice. Its hard to post after such high quality photos. My camera is a cool pix 4200 it was $75 used on ebay, so not the best quality but I cant resist posting some blennies, those little guys are cool.
