Greetings. I'm a neophyte diver, and I'm wondering if the experience I have after diving is common. Each time, after the last dive is done and I'm back on the shore, I have a period with a strong endorphin rush, lasting anywhere from one to several hours. I'm a relatively sedentary old fart, but I am familar with the after-effects of exercise, and this is something different. It makes me wonder if it might have something to do with the off-gassing process. So I'm curious: do others experience this post-dive euphoria?

Im a fairly new diver, and I understand what you are talking about. I have just attributed it to the physical exercise combined with doing something that I really love. Leaving all of my stresses alone for a short period of time.

Endorphins and adrenaline will do that. In my case the effect lasts weeks...months actually :-)
Seriously. I just daydream about diving and I get some of that euphoric feeling.

Now you know why diving is addictive. ;)

Why do you think we dive?
