Hi

oh yes this Leigh Cunningham went down to 330meters. What is that ? about 1100ft?

and about the special Apeks range: i know they use Apeks in the UK navy but is it a modified range ? is it not?

I will email Landon (technician of Apeks) about these matters. I will let you all know.....

Greetings, Xerxes

This is changing. When I was shopping for a new reg a few months back, I found that the Poseidon prices are dropping significantly, and you can get a Poseidon reg now for at or below the price of Apeks.

Hi

can you tell me how much the poseidons cost? and where you buy these ? Iam interested in Cycklon 5000 and the Jetstream.

Thanks, Xerxes

I know LeisurePro has Poseidon regulators, but they appear to be out of stock. I know a few places that carry Poseidon, but they are locally to me. One thing to realize, there is special tools needed to service Poseidon, so you should really check around your local area to find a Poseidon dealer before you commit to buying, as you won't be able to get them serviced locally if you don't have a dealer locally.

As far as prices, the Cyklon retails for $400, Jetstream Odin for $600 [I don't know if that Odin price is pre or post price drop].

I just spoke to a Poseidon/ Viking representative yesterday at the scuba show in Long Beach. He told me that the Odins now lists for $ 450.

The reason the prices were so much higher before was due to the previous US. distributor. They jacked up the prices quite heavily and parts for service was not stocked properly.

Viking of Sweden has now taken over the distributor ship for Poseidon in the US., which seems to be a very good thing. The prices has dropped to a more realistic level, and service issues should no longer be such a major issue.

I have also found a phenomenal service person here in the Los Angeles area, who himself preferres to dive his Cyklons (that is always a benefit...). He also services almost every brand on the market, and that in an excellent way.

Yesterday at the show, I also looked at the new Poseidon regulator. I am looking forward to here some impressions from people who actually has dived with the new regs. Apparently the regs are available for purchase already.

Sincerely

Anders :)

Here in the US, the MSRP of the Cyklon 5000 is $475 and the Jetstream is $450.
There are some shops in Germany that are selling them in the $300 range.
The metal body Cyklon for some reason is $625, even though it only cost the dealer about $64 more.
The new Xstreams aren't in my book, but from their wholesale cost should be about $100-$150 more.
The 1st stage of the Xstream is so incredibly simple and compact in design that I suspect that many other reg manufacturers will be copying it in the near future.
Take a look at it here: http://www.dyk-brand.se/images/xstream1.jpg
I suspect there is only about a half dozen parts needed for a service kit. "Annual" servicings are not required, they've been stretched out to 2-3 years between.

from my LDS (Southern Scuba in Ft. Worth) was in the $650 range.

And I think this is the price that was quoted in the recent issue of PADI's Sport Diver magazine.

Yes, it is indeed very interesting. I saw it and it's schematics i think on www.poseidon.se . I would love to hear any comments on this reg.
By the way this reg comes in three variations! Although the inner part (first stage ) is the same i think. Who knows more about this ?

See the Apeks is much cheaper! :) Guys if you wanna buy a Poseidon you may wanna check www.deepstop.de

This shop is located in germany. Great prices btw.

From what the LDS told me, the Xstream will be one of the first regulators to be certified from the manufacturer for 100% O2 service. In other words, they have the parts, methods, and documentation to satisfy the certifying agency.

The other versions is manufactured the same, and are compatible with higher O2 mixtures, but do not have the "stamp of approval" as the 100% O2 version.
