Dear all, I was wondering if any of you had some reviews or knew anything about the Poseidon Platform W100 wing? I am looking to expand my BCD collection and I want a wing that I can use for Single Tank diving but also for twins within the next year or so.

Any reviews good or bad would be much appreciated as it is an expensive piece of kit. I would also appreciate any alternatives as Halcyon, OMS, Dive Rite that may be way better than this Wing.

Thanks for your advice, views in advance.

Well, I have no direct experience with this specific product nor do I know anyone who does so I'll make a few comments based on what I do know.

1.) Large doubles wings (this one has 70lbs of lift) generally make terrible singles wings. It's doable but you'll wish you had just bought a dedicated singles wing.

2.) It seems awefully expensive to me. One of the best things about BP/W systems is that theyare cheap and perform very similarly to one another. Therefore there's no need to pay extra for the big names.

3.) I can't see how the tanks are attached to the plate from the one picture on their website but it says they use a double tank camband (?). Never seen that before nor do I see any reason to ditch the common wingnut/bolt system. It's cheap, interchangable, works great. the same thing goes for a one piece harness BTW.

Here is an example for a great deal on a fantastic product that I have personal experience with that will leave you with enough money left over to buy a dedicated doubles wing down the road.

Golem 35 Lbs SS Combo

You can easily spend twice that on other products with little more to show for it than a nametag.

Matt, thanks very much for your input and your suggestion of an alternative which I will read up about.

That's more lift than you need for most doubles, let alone a single tank.

Your typical BP & Harness is the way to go especially if you plan to go onto tec. Simple design, no plastic to break and endless gear config options. As far as wings go, I know it costs more money but for better Control (buoyancy, trim & drag) in the water, it is better to go with a wing that is designed for the type of tank (s) that you are using. The dual purpose wings have more drag in the water and are prone to trapping air which leads to poor venting efficiency.

If you are using a single tank then I recommend a Halcyon Eclipse wing.
Halcyon Eclipse Wings 10.101.030 *Buy Halcyon at DIVESEEKERS.com 888-SCUBA-47
360 wing, shorter corrugated hose, rear OPV (LH side), inner replaceable bladder.

If you are using a set of doubles then I recommend a Halcyon Evolve wing.
Halcyon Evolve Wings 10.300.040 *Buy Halcyon at DIVESEEKERS.com 888-SCUBA-47
360 wing, shorter corrugated hose, rear OPV (LH side), inner replaceable bladder.

By taking on this philosophy you will see increased performance (buoyancy, trim, finning & air-consumption & bottom time) in the water.
