I'm about to get a Poseidon BeSea Advanced Harness with the Oxycheq Mach V 30# Wing (or Mach V Extreme).

We don't have a rep for Poseidon or Oxycheq in the country, and so I thought maybe someone out there can give me some ideas on how well they'll work together.

I'm a petite woman about 5'1-ish tall, weigh about 90lbs. I wear a 7mm suit most of the time. Just recreational dives at the moment, I know the Mach V Extreme seems overkill for the purpose, but fact that it's been thrown darts and razors yet still intact is pretty amazing!

Any input is appreciated, thanks in advance!

Why do you want to corrrupt a perfectly elegant wing with some ET S&M grommet-laden BS Euro- Harness? You asked.

Well, it's really difficult to get a good fitting harness to my size...

Even more difficult without (and can't) try on before hand. The BeSea is adjustable, I just thought there're better chances of getting a good fit with it...it's got a pretty good look though don't you think?

Are you wearing the rubber prosthesis?

Like I said, main reason is the adjustability of the harness. As far as I know, it's made of heavy duty material (1000 Denier Ballistic fabric) and covered with easiliy cleansed mesh. It's not a "dive right" gear, but not a bad start for a "build your own" BC. Poseidon wings are too big though, that's why I want to go with an Oxycheq.

If you are looking for an adjustable harness why not just get the one from Oxy and elimimate all of the other cra$ that comes with this one.:coffee:

My personal experience with the BeSea is that it's extremely comfortable above water, the best thing since sliced bread if you've got a long walk to the dive and that it feels like pretty much any other bp/wing (admittedly I've only tried three other such setups) below water. It shouldn't be too hard to set it up to work for you either, my girlfriend can use mine at 5"4 and there's further room for modifications in size still.

One thing to note is that Poseidon has a thing for making their gear in their own way so it's not 100% certain that you can strap another brand of wing straight to the harness without modifications. Also the padding means you'll probably have to add two pounds of lead, at least I had to.

OK, I was trying not to bring it up, but, have you considered an infinitly adjustable back plate and harness? The back plate can be gotten in a "small" size.

Thanks Izze. I have a lower back problem (not serious, but still), the paddings on the harness is a big bonus in my case. I'm not sure too, but the nice people at ScubaToys reckon they'll work fine together, I shall leave it to their capable hands.

I've read most of the old threads on the BeSea system, and many that have tried appraise for its comfort and workmanship.

Yes I have. Fact that I'll be taking gear on travel kind of push me into looking at the lighter "soft pack" option. The closest that I can come across with my LDS is the OMS IQ Pack, which is not a bad idea with the versatility of a soft/hard option. But even the XS size was too large for my fit. Which is why I'm now looking at the Poseidon BeSea, which has a similar idea of a padded soft pack and maybe used with a backplate if required for multiple tanks attachment.
