Hi Hattan,
In the Lisbon area we usually go to Sesimbra (about 50 kms south) where there are several good Diving Centres (check Diving Lissabon / Portugal), but I'm afraid I have bad news if you want coral sharks. When are you coming?

Hi, I'm looking to dive in Lisbon area, last weekend in sept. I plan on staying in Lisbon, but could move pensionne to be closer to dive centre. Any suggestions? I'll be using public transport, I speak rusty Portuguese (if that makes a difference)
I'm advanced nitrox 87 dives, all in the Red Sea ie warm water. Will a 5ml suit be warm enough? with hood?
Thanks. H

This is probably late, but most divers around here go out with 5mm wetsuits.

If you are in Lisbon and relying on public transportation, your only choice is to take the commuter train from Cais do Sodre and dive in Cascais. The visibility out there is crap, but there are a few good reefs and wrecks out there in spite of that.

To do better, you will need to relocate. In central Portugal, the places to go are Peniche/Berlengas and Sesimbra.
